It has been another great year for World Vision, for the thousands who participated in this year's run. Both my parents and I are glad to have run for health and nutrition, as well as for the millions of children in need of help all over the world.

This year's run is held at Blue Bay Walk in Pasay City. Most fun-runs near Pasay City have always been held at Mall of Asia, which frankly doesn't have the best road surface conditions. As a barefoot runner, it was quite a relief being able to run at Blue Bay Walk, mainly because of its smooth asphalt roads, that isn't quite punishing to the soles of my feet.
The entire run wasn't also quite demanding or difficult, since it was only a single stretch with very little turns, from Blue Bay Walk all the way to the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Running is arguably one of the most popular sports today -- and the most preferred fitness exercise by Filipinos. It boasts of many health benefits, promotes healthy lifestyle, prolongs life and in some cases, may even save lives.
World Vision Run is an annual charity event that promotes healthy lifestyle through running, while also raising funds to help secure a better future for thousands of Filipino children. When you run for World Vision, you're not just running for your own health, but for children.
Malnutrition is still the leading health problems among Filipino children. The National Nutrition Survey shows that 2 out of 10 children under 5 are malnourished. Meanwhile, 10 million children die before their 5th birthday every year due to preventable diseases.

For almost 60 years in the Philippines, World Vision has taken huge strides to ensure that Filipino children enjoy the fullness of life they deserve. Proceeds from this charity event will be used to fund nutrition interventions in areas where chronic malnutrition is most prevalent.
Now on its 5th year, World Vision Run offers a bigger and more fun-filled activity the whole family will enjoy. The event is happening on June 26, 2016 at the Blue Bay Walk in Pasay City, with an expected 7,000 participants. Race categories include 3k, 5k, 10k 21k, and a 500-meter dash for kids. The event is co-presented by Run Rio, Inc.
